Private School Teachers To Be Paid Salary By The Federal Government?

The President of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools, Yomi Otubela announced on Monday 13th July 2020, that the Federal Government has signed an agreement to pay private school teachers.

This agreement was made based on the fact that Private school teachers have been greatly affected by the lock down on schools and haven’t been paid salaries for about 4 months unlike government teachers who get paid every month since the lock down began.

Obviously, this is a new and a very good development as regards the welfare of workers in Nigeria, but as we know the Nigeria Government to be a ‘promise and fail’ system, can we be sure that private teachers will be paid?

If eventually, Private School Teachers get paid, what about other private workers who were affected by the lockdown, is there a plan for them or is the government only concerned about teachers?
