The National Service Commission dismissed 149 staff on Wednesday following the rule that any staff who is 60 years of age or has spent 35 years in service should retire.
One of the senior citizens who got sacked is the Clerk of the National Assembly Alhaji Mohammed Sani-Omolori as well as the commission’s secretary Olusanya Ajakaiye.
This is a very good move by the commission as it paves way for the younger generation to also come into service and create a change that will benefit the entire nation. It also helps to create job opportunities for qualified people and is a good representation of the bill that was passed concerning how youths are not too young to run for office.
But, will this rule be applied in every field or arms of the government? What about Governors, Ministers, Senators, and even the President? Shouldn’t this rule also apply to them also?
I think all Politicians should retire at 60. What is your take on this?
