Lagos Government Fulfils 25-year-old Promise, Gifts 1996 Gold Medalist a House

The Lagos State Government led by Governor Sanwo-Olu Babajide had finally rewarded the first Nigerian Olympic gold medalist, Chioma Ajunwa-Oparah with a three-bedroom apartment in Lagos.

This is coming after the former military administrator of Lagos, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, promised to reward Chioma with a house in 1996 after she won a gold medal in long jump at the Atlanta games.

Well, 25 years later, the Lagos State Government has just fulfilled this promise to Chioma as Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu presented the key to a house to Ajunwa in a ceremony on Thursday.

Sanwo-Olu also added that this will help to improve the country’s image and also encourage young athletes in the country.
