Is the National Assembly Considering the Removal of the Minimum Wage from the Exclusive List?

To think that they even thought about removing something substantial to people’s livelihood while sunken deep in recession as well as the everyday hike in fuel and other basic human amenities, now to think of creating a bill to totally remove the minimum wage from the exclusive to concurrent list.

Not only does this declare war on the Nigerian workers, it stands as a huge pointer that the Government cares less for the people and this issue must be tackled before the Nigerian Labor Congress moves forward with it.

Shouldn’t one of the goal of the Government be about providing for and lifting the masses out of poverty? Because it would seem like the Nigerian Government is taking all means necessary to ensure that it citizens remain poor, isn’t it? If not why remove the minimum wage from the exclusive to concurrent list.

At the same time, I’m not sure it would come as a surprise if the bill moves forward, most State Governors are still finding it difficult to pay according to the current minimum wage, I’m sure they will be a party to this new bill.

What is your reaction to this?
