The Kano and Jigawa State Government has ordered the immediate closure of all schools in the state.
This includes public, private, boarding and even nursing schools in the state.
The main reason behind this sudden closure is unknown, but speculations points to the increased insecurity and the attack and kidnap of the school boys or the recent increase in number and death of covid-19 patients in the state.
I believe that the closure of these schools is to ensure the safety of the students so that they won’t become victims of kidnapping as the Kankara boys were.
But for how long would they have to stay at home?
I believe that it is quite obvious that this is merely a temporary solution as students can’t be kept out of school forever, so what other effective method do you think these states should adopt to protect their students?
