The Daily Independent has reported the death of the former governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi. He was aged 70 years. May his soul RIP, and may God grant his family the fortitude to bear the loss.
Trust Nigerians; some people are already weaving some conspiracy theories on the announcement of his death happening on the same day that the APC (the party in which he was the Deputy Chairman-South) announced the dissolution of the party’s National Working Committee of which he was a member.
See some comments from Africa’s most popular forum, Nairaland.
The comments above try to insinuate that the former governor probably died before today, but since the the APC faction loyal to him was struggling for the Acting Chairmanship position of the party with Chief Victor Giadam after the suspension of the former Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, APC handlers kept his death secret, and since the NWC has been dissolved, there was no need to continue doing so.
Is there any truth to this? I know the optics might look that way, but one cannot rule out coincidence. I mean that is why the word “coincidence” exists!
RIP Senator Ajimobi!
