The Governor of Kaduna state, Nasir El-Rufai was invited as a speaker to the Nigerian Bar Association Annual General Conference which is set to hold on the 26th to 29th of August. He was to speak on the high insecurity and killings in Kaduna.
When news broke out about this, Nigerian lawyers who were meant to attend this conference made a vow not to attend if El-Rufai will be in attendance and went ahead to request that his invitation be revoked.
This didn’t come as a surprise to Nigerians that El-Rufai was kicked out of the conference. It is quite clear that he isn’t one of Nigerians favorite governors due to his indifference and lack of support to put an end to the killings in the south of Kaduna.
In fact, about a couple of months ago, the women in Kaduna had to protest naked in order to get his attention and do something to put a stop to the killings, but to changes have been made so far.
Well, the association concluded at a decision to withdraw his invitation after a National Executive Committee meeting with a tangible excuse of giving the governor enough time to focus on the killings going on in Southern Kaduna.
Well, as Nigerians, we know that is a polite way of kicking someone out of what is to be an honorable event.
Does Governor El-Rufai deserve the treatment he got?
