Its no news the ongoing registration to link phone numbers to your National Identification Number. Although the process happens to be stress free one if you have a NIN, some Nigerians are having a difficult time trying to make the link because of the absence of their NIN, hence the need to get a NIN.
The need to get their NIN resulted to the influx of people at the offices of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) all across the country. This made the process strenuous and created a desperation to get the NIN at all cost.
I believe that the situation opened another business opportunity for fraudulent people who have now began to sell their NIN. This will enable other people with their different phone numbers to connect to a National Identity Number.
The EFCC now has a hint on this and have issued a warning to Nigerians to desist from selling their National Identity Number as it could put them in trouble if a criminal case is traced from a number to their identity.
Well, I believe this to be true and the sale of one’s NIN can be dangerous and their identity can now be linked to another person’s SIM.
What do you think about this?
