During an Interview with Economic Confidential in Abuja, the Nigerian Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Ali-Pantami mentioned that the process of replacing plastic national identity cards with digital numbers is currently in motion.
This seems to be a huge development in Nigeria as there would be no need to hold ID cards any more, instead, you can be identified with your digital numbers just like the Social Security Number is used in the United States.
This will also help to reinforce and tighten the security and prevent illegal immigrants from settling in Nigeria as this number can be used to identify and used for information gathering in any part of the world.
Well, I don’t think that this is a bad idea. This digital number is an upgrade to the slow technological advancement in Nigeria, Or what do you think?
