Malone Mukwende a 20 year old man in the United Kingdom has published a book together with two professors on how to identify symptoms that manifest on black skins.
This young man identified a problem that exists in medical schools. He claims that medical students are not being taught how to identify symptoms on dark skin and would majorly focus on the white skin whose diagnoses might be different in respect to the different skin tones.
This obviously puts a new face to the treatment of black people especially in the American, Caribbean and European Countries.
What do you think of this? As a black person in a predominantly white country, has there been a time you’ve been misdiagnosed because the medical practitioner didn’t understand your skin? Can you share your experience?
In what other ways do you think this book will help to change in face of medicine?
